Signia Pure C&G MaX and Pure Charge&Go IX can look like closely related receiver-in-canal hearing aids, but they sit on different Signia platforms. MaX is the newer 2026 generation powered by Acoustic Intelligence, while Pure IX uses Signia’s established Integrated Xperience platform.
If you are deciding between them, the most useful comparison is not “new versus old”. It is which processing strategy, connectivity route and fitting configuration best matches your hearing and your everyday listening problems.
The short answer
Pure C&G MaX is the stronger technology story when difficult group conversation and highly adaptive processing are the main priorities. Pure Charge&Go IX remains highly relevant, particularly when an IX configuration offers the connectivity, telecoil or established fitting route that better suits the patient. Both still require individual programming and verification.
First, what do they have in common?
Both are rechargeable RIC-style hearing aids. The main hearing-aid body sits behind the ear while a thin receiver wire carries sound to a speaker in the ear canal. This format is popular because it can accommodate a wide range of hearing losses while keeping the device relatively small and allowing flexible acoustic coupling.
For either family, receiver power, dome or earmould choice, venting and the physical fit can change the result substantially. Two people wearing the same model can therefore have very different fittings.
The biggest difference is the platform
Pure Charge&Go IX: Integrated Xperience
Pure IX uses Signia Integrated Xperience. Its conversation strategy centres on RealTime Conversation Enhancement, designed to track several conversation partners and adapt as the conversation moves. Signia’s current Pure IX family also includes different connectivity versions, making the exact model important when phone compatibility is a priority.
Pure C&G MaX: Multi-adaptive Xperience
Pure MaX introduces Signia’s Acoustic Intelligence architecture. Signia describes four coordinated deep neural networks controlling RealTime Conversation Enhancement AI, Own Voice Processing AI, Ambient Scene Adaptation AI and Dynamic Noise Control AI. The intention is broader coordination across the listening scene rather than focusing only on one processing task.

Which is more suitable for noisy group conversation?
Both platforms are built around conversation in changing environments. MaX is specifically the newer evolution of that strategy and is the more obvious model to investigate when the wearer repeatedly reports difficulty following several speakers in busy noise.
That does not mean every patient will perceive a dramatic difference. Speech-in-noise ability depends on more than the hearing aid. The degree and configuration of hearing loss, speech discrimination, distance from the speaker, room acoustics and visual cues all matter. Manufacturer group studies can show a technology effect, but they do not predict an individual person’s exact outcome.
Connectivity may decide the comparison
The Pure IX family is unusually important from a connectivity perspective because it includes multiple routes. Signia South Africa currently lists MFi, ASHA, LE Audio and Bluetooth Classic across the Pure Charge&Go IX family. The Pure Charge&Go BCT IX model is specifically designed around Bluetooth Classic connectivity.
MaX also introduces a newer connectivity ecosystem internationally, but compatibility still depends on the exact phone, computer, operating system, hearing-aid configuration and market release. We therefore verify the actual devices a patient uses rather than choosing from a Bluetooth logo alone.

What about charging and everyday handling?
Both families are rechargeable. The exact charger options depend on the model and local portfolio. Pure IX has an established set of desktop, portable and Dry&Clean charging options. MaX uses the newer Pure charging ecosystem in current international material. The important practical questions are whether the charger travels easily, whether the patient can insert the devices reliably and whether daily cleaning is manageable.
Should you choose MaX simply because it is newer?
No. A well-selected and well-verified IX fitting can be more appropriate than an incorrectly selected MaX fitting. The device has to match the hearing loss and the person’s priorities. Someone who needs a particular connectivity route, telecoil configuration or established local stock option may have a very good reason to choose within the IX family.
Conversely, a patient whose main unresolved complaint is group conversation in complex noise may reasonably want to trial MaX if it is available and clinically appropriate.
What matters more than the model name?
A hearing aid is not finished when it comes out of the box. The fitting still needs an accurate audiogram, appropriate prescription, physical coupling, feedback management, speech-based counselling and follow-up. We also use real-ear measurement to check the sound reaching the eardrum against the fitting target where appropriate.

Is BCT IX the same as standard Pure IX?

Bring the phone you actually use
When connectivity matters, bring your phone model and tell us how you use calls, streaming, laptops and television. That is more useful than choosing a hearing aid from the Bluetooth label alone.
