Why hearing belongs in workplace wellness

Hearing difficulties affect more than the hearing test.

Difficulty following meetings, understanding speech in open-plan offices, managing phone calls or coping with tinnitus can influence communication, participation and fatigue at work. A hearing wellness day creates a practical opportunity for education, early identification and appropriate referral.

01

Make hearing visible

Include hearing alongside other health and wellness priorities.

02

Reduce uncertainty

Employees receive clear, private feedback and sensible next steps.

03

Support communication

Education can address listening habits, tinnitus and workplace communication.

04

Create a referral pathway

Employees who need more testing know where and how to continue.

Choose the correct pathway

Wellness screening and occupational audiometry are not the same service.

The practice will clarify the purpose of the event before recommending a programme.

Occupational audiometry enquiry

Formal workplace-noise and compliance requirements.

Noise-exposed, industrial or compliance-related enquiries require a separate review of the workplace, testing purpose, required protocol and documentation.

Important: A general corporate wellness screen does not replace statutory occupational audiometry or a formal hearing-conservation programme where these are required.

More than a screening station

The complete audiology service can come to your workplace.

Companies may book a simple hearing-wellness station, or arrange full clinical appointments as part of the same wellness day. Where the venue and schedule are suitable, employees can move from early identification to diagnostic testing, recommendations and hearing technology without needing a separate first visit to the practice.

01Diagnostic hearing tests

Comprehensive pure-tone and speech testing using calibrated clinical equipment.

02Ear and middle-ear assessment

Otoscopy and tympanometry where clinically indicated and appropriate for the setting.

03Results and recommendations

Private explanations, clinical recommendations and an individual next-step plan.

04Hearing-aid selection

Technology counselling based on hearing results, communication needs, handling and lifestyle.

05Hearing-aid fittings

On-site fitting, programming, counselling and verification where arranged in advance.

06Follow-up care

Fine-tuning, communication counselling, reports and onward referral when required.

Clinical setup matters. Full diagnostic and hearing-aid services require advance planning, scheduled appointments, a suitable quiet room, access to power and enough time for the selected procedures. The final test battery and service level remain guided by clinical need and venue suitability.

Frequently asked questions

Before you request a proposal.

Which areas do you cover?

The practice is based in Bryanston and considers corporate work across Johannesburg and selected Gauteng areas. Travel, timing and venue requirements are confirmed in the proposal.

Is there a minimum number of employees?

Minimum booking requirements depend on location, event format and whether the service is booked as a screening station, presentation or combined programme.

Can audiology be added to an existing wellness day?

Yes. The service can be planned as a standalone hearing initiative or integrated into a broader employee wellness event.

Can the day include diagnostic tests and hearing-aid fittings?

Yes. Full diagnostic hearing appointments, hearing-aid consultations, fittings, programming and follow-up care can be arranged on site when the company provides an appropriate private room and appointments are scheduled in advance.

Does a screening replace a diagnostic hearing assessment?

No. A screen identifies whether further evaluation may be useful. Employees with relevant findings or concerns are guided toward an appropriate diagnostic or medical pathway.

What about factories or noise-exposed workplaces?

Industrial, noise-exposed and compliance-related enquiries must be identified on the proposal form so the practice can determine whether a wellness service, occupational pathway or another provider is appropriate.
