Signia now has two important conversation-focused platforms in its current ecosystem: Multi-adaptive Xperience (MaX) and Integrated Xperience (IX). MaX is the newer platform, introduced in 2026, while IX remains an active and clinically relevant platform across several Signia hearing-aid families.
The practical question is not simply whether MaX is newer. It is whether the changes in MaX address the listening situations that are actually difficult for you, and whether the specific device, coupling, connectivity and fitting are appropriate for your hearing profile.
The short answer
IX is built around Signia’s RealTime Conversation Enhancement and established Integrated Xperience processing. MaX adds what Signia calls Acoustic Intelligence: four coordinated deep neural networks controlling conversation enhancement, own-voice processing, ambient-scene adaptation and noise control. MaX is therefore a meaningful platform change, but it does not make every IX fitting obsolete.
What is Signia IX?
Integrated Xperience is Signia’s conversation-focused platform used across products such as Pure Charge&Go IX, Styletto IX, Motion Charge&Go IX, Active IX, Silk Charge&Go IX and Insio IX. Its central idea is that a conversation is dynamic: people move, speakers change, and background noise does not stay in one place.
IX uses RealTime Conversation Enhancement to identify and support multiple conversation partners while the acoustic scene changes. Depending on the model, the platform also includes features such as Own Voice Processing 2.0 and different connectivity options. In the Pure family, for example, current Signia South Africa material lists MFi, ASHA, LE Audio and Bluetooth Classic across different Pure IX configurations.
What changed with Signia MaX?
MaX stands for Multi-adaptive Xperience. The biggest technical shift is the addition of Acoustic Intelligence, which Signia describes as four deep neural networks working together across the hearing-aid signal pathway rather than one isolated AI feature.
RealTime Conversation Enhancement AI
This is the MaX evolution of Signia’s conversation-processing strategy. It is designed to track and enhance changing conversation partners with greater precision in complex group situations.
Own Voice Processing AI
MaX also changes the own-voice system. Signia says the newer processing is designed to preserve a natural perception of the wearer’s own voice even during rapid or noisy conversation, without the same individual training requirement used in earlier generations.
Ambient Scene Adaptation AI
This part of the system analyses the broader acoustic environment and adjusts the hearing-aid strategy as the scene changes. That matters because a busy restaurant, moving outdoors, a quiet office and a family table are not the same listening problem.
Dynamic Noise Control AI
Rather than treating all noise as one category, this system is designed to consider what the noise is, where it is coming from and whether the wearer is currently in conversation before changing noise reduction.
Does MaX mean IX is now outdated?
No. IX remains a current Signia platform and, importantly, it exists across a much broader range of physical styles. At the time of writing, the MaX launch is centred on Pure C&G MaX, while IX includes RIC, slim RIC, BTE, ready-to-wear in-ear, custom and CROS options.
That means the decision can still be determined by factors that have nothing to do with platform age: ear anatomy, degree of hearing loss, receiver or earmould requirements, dexterity, rechargeability, phone compatibility, single-sided hearing loss and whether a custom device is preferred.
Who is most likely to notice the MaX changes?
MaX is most interesting when the main complaint is complex, changing conversation in noise. Examples include a table with several speakers, social gatherings where people talk from different directions, restaurants, meetings and situations where the listener needs to follow the conversation without losing awareness of the surrounding environment.
That does not mean MaX will automatically outperform a well-fitted IX device for every individual. Hearing-aid outcomes still depend heavily on the hearing loss, speech discrimination, physical fit, acoustic coupling, programming and verification. A newer platform cannot compensate for an inappropriate fitting.
Should an existing IX wearer upgrade?
If an IX fitting is comfortable, verified and meeting the wearer’s real-world goals, there is no automatic reason to replace it because MaX exists. An upgrade discussion makes more sense when there is a persistent unmet need, especially in complex conversation, or when the existing devices are nearing replacement for other reasons.
For someone buying new hearing aids, it is reasonable to compare both platforms where clinically and locally available. Our approach is to start with the hearing and communication problem, then compare the technology rather than assuming the newest model is always the correct answer.
What about South African availability?
Signia’s global 2026 portfolio now leads with MaX, and Signia South Africa has current MaX information online. Exact technology levels, colours, accessories, demo stock and supply timing can still differ by market. We therefore confirm current South African availability when quoting or arranging a trial.
MaX vs IX: the clinical bottom line
Choose MaX because its processing matches your listening problem, not simply because MaX is newer. Choose IX when the established platform, product style, connectivity or fitting route is a better match. In both cases, the hearing aid still needs to be programmed for the individual and verified against the fitting target.
