Tympanometry is a quick, non-invasive audiology test used to assess how well the middle ear is working. It looks at how the eardrum moves and can help identify whether pressure, fluid or reduced movement may be affecting hearing.

Why this test matters

What happens during tympanometry?

A small soft probe is placed at the entrance of the ear canal. The equipment gently changes air pressure and measures how the eardrum responds. The result is shown as a graph called a tympanogram.
